Fast and Easy Christmas Card

Here is the very simplest of cards. Fast, easy and impressive!

I began with a plain white card base. Use the Sizzix snowflake embossing folder to create a textured overlay to attach to the front of the card.

Now the easy part. Find a fairly large 3-D sticker and center it on the front.

Simple and elegant.

Quilted and a Window

Here is another of the quilted cards that was made at the last Wild Women of the West Stampers meeting that I was able to attend.
Before the quilting was layered onto the dark brown card stock a die from the nesting dahila by Spellbinders was used to cut a "window". Another of the exact same size was cut in dark brown cardstock and placed in the window after the quilting was attached to the brown layer.
Using one size larger of the nesting dahila's in dark brown, a frame of sorts was cut. The piece of quilting from the window as then attached. A glitter pen was used to draw around the edges of the dark brown dahilas.

In All Things

Oh my, another scripture card. I do love them. I have certainly found some great combinations.
Our Daily Bread Designs scripture stamp, DCWV paper and Spellbinders dies. There is really no need for instructions, it is all plain to see in the picture. Have fun creating.

You Encourage Me

This is a white card base with orange white core cardstock from DCWV attached to cover the whole front. A Cuttlebug border embossing folder was the placed on the very edge of the cards opening edge and run through a die cut machine. (this means which ever one I had out at the moment) The raised image was then carefully sanded to let the white core of the orange cardstock show through.
I also used a matching narrower Cuttlebug border folder on the left side of the scripture. The scripture is on a Spellbinders Label. The raised daisies have been brayered with yellow ink.
I stamp my image and then die cut. Normally the die is taped down over the image after the die has been lined up. I have found that with the curved sides of the Labels dies I have to use a clear quilting ruler to get everything straight.
Tape used on my dies is a painters masking tape. There was a lavender Duck brand at Wal Mart that was just perfect. It is very low tack and does not pull up a layer of paper when removed. I did find a pale green masking tape at Menard's that is meant for delicate surfaces and it works fairly well. If I ever find that lavender masking tape again I am going to buy four or five rolls.

According To His Purpose

A very very favorite scripture that has been such a comfort in troubled and stressful times, this lovely stamp is a product of Our Daily Bread Designs. It has been cut out with a Spellbinders Rectangle Nestibilities in cream cardstock and layered onto a black scalloped rectangle. On the left side of the card is Spellbinders Borderabilities in black. There is a very narrow band of cream layered onto the black for that final touch of elegance.
The paper covering the cardbase is from DCWV La Creme Stack.

God Is My Salvation

I have been punching and die cutting up a real storm. This design uses DCWV Indian Summer Stack papers. These are NOT my normal colors or choice. It was fun to get outside my box and try some new combinations.
Spellbinders Label and Oval Nestibilites dies were used. The corners of the Our Daily Bread Designs phrase are from a discontinued Creating Memories punch. The branches are an EK Success Martha Stewart punch.
I sponged the edge of the card base and the leaf pattern multi color label.

I always thank God for you

These three cards are the same basic design. There is a variation in embellishments and some papers.

A punch was used for the little butterflies. Die cuts from Quickutz were used for the large butterfly and the flowers.

Spellbinders Label and Pendant dies are the larger die cuts and Rectangle

Nestibilites for the scripture verse.

The verse from Our Daily Bread Designs was deliberately place at the top of the rectangle to allow for embellishments below. I was at my stamping group when I made these cards or I would have tried some ribbon too.

The papers are from DCWV Citrus stack.

The Lord Is My Strength

This has been so much fun! I would really like to have more of these great Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.
Spellbinders Pendant dies are pretty great too. This one is called In Spades.
I used DCWV Indian Summer glitter stack to create these lucious colors combinations.

To Everything There Is A Season

Spellbinders Borderabilities In Spades and Rectangles Nestibilities are the dies used for this card. The phrase is from Our Daily Bread Designs and the paper is from DCWV.
The scrapbook paper was used to cover the entire card front. Glitter paper was used for the borders. Note that the cut out from the border was used to accent the phrase.
I have to admit I am not particularly wild about this design. It was one of those plans in my head that just didn't work out well on execution. Oh well, another day, another card design. I am not sure exactly what it is that I don't care for. Maybe it is the dotted paper? Maybe the phrase needed to be centered on the card? Should the card be landscape instead of portrait?

A Season

All the papers used on this card are from the La Creme Stack from DCWV. The flower paper is flocked. Very rich and yummy.
There is a flower eyelet on the lower left corner of the Our Daily Bread Designs scripture phrase.
How do I get those layers cut so evenly? Layering rulers. If you like to layer you will make these rulers one of your favorite tools.

My Salvation

The stamped phrase is by Our Daily Bread Designs. The corners on the white cardstock were rounded with a discontinued corner rounder by Creative Memories. A small corner rounder was used on the dark brown layer.
The pink scalloped oval layers and the large embossed green leaf are a product of Spellbinders. The small glitter paper leaves are from a Punch Bunch punch. The dark brown branches are the EK Success Martha Stewart line. The smaller dark brown branch that is an extension on the larger branch on the left is from Punch Bunch.
Papers are DCWV.
This card reall does not require directions. It's all right there in front of you. I am sure there are many many variation on this theme. This card is a little outside my usual box. Not my favorite colors, but it was fun. We all need to stretch a little every now and then. Stay tuned for more of my stretching. Some of it was very pleasing and some of it was . . . well I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Faux Metal Lace

Here is another example of a technique I first saw on USArtquest. It is fairly simple. Apply double sided tape to cardstock in almost overlapping strips. Rub across the tape in both directions, causing it to roll up slightly.
Now you can apply metallic flakes, foils, mica powders and embossing powders. Anything that will stick to the tape.
I found that it was still sticky after the flakes and foil, so put on a sparkly embossing powder and embossed to finish off. The embossing powder seemed to find those little nooks and crannies that the other products couldn't get to.
On a whim, the black flourish was added. I still don't know if I like it or not. Guess it depends on the day, LOL,

When I Pray

I do love my scripture stamps. Pen pal alert, you will be getting a lot of these cards in the future! Our Daily Bread Designs is one of the many scripture stamp sources available today. If you have a good source please share it in the comments. If I remember I will add them to my links section of the blog.
Here again are the fantastic Spellbinders dies, Labels and Nestibilities. The scripture phrase itself has been accented by a corner rounder and sponging the edges with black ink.

Strength I Need

This wonderful scripture stamp is from
Our Daily Bread Designs. I would love to have one of every single one of their stamps. The phrases and images are great and the quality of the deeply etched rubber is perfect.
The die cuts are by Spellbinders. From their Label and Borderabilities lines.
The phrase was stamped on cream card stock. A white gel pen was used to highlight some of the bold letter.
The card base is a duplex paper of black and beige. The advantage of this paper is that I don't need an insert of light paper insert or a light gel pen to write my greeting inside. This is especially important when you give your cards as a gift. Most people that I gift with a card set don't have gel pens and won't buy one either.

Butterfly Collage Stamp

The card base of this design has been covered with scrapbook paper and the edges sponged lightly with a dark brown ink.
Spellbinders made the die for the die cut on the right side of the card. It was cut and embossed, then lightly sponged with dark brown ink to accent the embossing even more.
I can not tell you who made the stamp. The butterfly itself is accented with a clear sparkle gel pen to pop the butterfly image in the collage. The square edges have been distressed with a thread cutter and then heavily sponged with black ink to give a burned and vintage look.

You Answer Me

Layers, wow, do I like to use layers! I used the parts of the pendant that are cut out and made them accents. Spellbinders Label and Pendant dies were used. The papers are from DCWV Tahiti stack and the stamped phrase is made my Our Daily Bread Designs.
The stamped phrase has been accented with a white pen.
A black card base was used. More to come, I am still creating with my paper, stamps and dies.

Die cuts, stamps and paper

With some great dies, high quality stamps and gorgeous paper you can create so much. Dies by Spellbinders, stamps by Our Daily Bread Designs and papers by DCWV.
The pieces on the far left and right are a Spellbinders Borderabilities that has been cut in half. I do like the framing effect that it gives.
Hope this has inspired some of you. I have certainly had a great time creating with these tools.

The perfect adhesive backed half pearls are from Creative Impressions. This was a very fun and elegant card to create.

Faux Lace

A few weeks ago there was a video on USArt Quest on making faux lace. Double sided tape is laid down on the card stock. You can tell from the pictures of the cards that the rows of tape were fairly close together. I had to try several kinds of double sided tape before I found one that would "roll" when I rubbed over it.

I rubbed over the tape going both directions. Next was a mica powder that I dabbed on here and there with my finger. After that I put some metallic flakes on and rubbed off the excess with a stiff brush. To get rid of that finally little bit of tackiness a sparkly embossing powder was applied and heated.

The die cuts are from Spellbinders Label Series. The texture is from a Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder.

This is a fun new technique that is easy to do and impressive when finished.

Let It Snow

Since I know very well that I can't prevent the coming predicted snow I have decided to be happy about it. Okay, not happy, but at least accepting.

Here again the Spellbinder's Impressibilites was used to create the raised snowflakes. The raised image was lightly brayered over with a medium blue ink. The oval, scalloped oval and the dark blue border on the right of the card to the left were all from Spellbinders dies. The dark blue snowflakes are from various punches and die cuts.

The second card is the same Spellbinders Impressibilites. It has been layered on dark blue and white then mounted on a meduim blue card base.
