A Sympathy Card

Recently the husband of a very very special aunt died.
They had been married for 62+ years.
I wanted to do something extra special for my
dear Aunt Donna.

Rust and cream are the colors.
I used a scrapbook paper under the stamped phrase.
The frame was created with two Spellbinders dies
used at the same time and then embossed.
Rusty Hinge Distressed Ink was used
to sponge the outer and inner edges of the frame.

The Cheery Lynn butterflies are cut from
card stock that has been stippled with
Lumiere paint.
I brushed it on first and then quickly stipple dabbed
more of the same color on to remove the brush strokes.

The flowers and leaves are Punch Bunch punches.
The flowers have been shaped.
The leaves have been lightly sponged
the Rusty Hinge Distressed Ink
to tone down the green.
It also blends the whole of the card together.

The lowest cream layer has been textured
in an embossing folder.
K & Company scrapbook paper was used
under the phrase.

Soft and Feminine

As soft, delicate and feminine card that was created
with two different Cuttlebug folders.
The folders are both run through and emboss the paper
at the same time. Then the dividing lines are
embossed in using a bone folder and a Sizzix
narrow lines embossing plate.

The flowers have been softly colored with chalks.
The butterfly wings are folded and then joined with
gold hand punched circles glued together.

This has to be one of my personal favorite card designs.
I will make a dozen or more at a time
and use them for gifts for those special
people in my life.

Butterfly Collage Stamp

The card base of this design has been covered with scrapbook paper and the edges sponged lightly with a dark brown ink.
Spellbinders made the die for the die cut on the right side of the card. It was cut and embossed, then lightly sponged with dark brown ink to accent the embossing even more.
I can not tell you who made the stamp. The butterfly itself is accented with a clear sparkle gel pen to pop the butterfly image in the collage. The square edges have been distressed with a thread cutter and then heavily sponged with black ink to give a burned and vintage look.

Butterfly and Flourishes In Green

This is one of my favorite designs.
Every once in a while you have a design that turns out
exactly like the vision in your head.
Since I did it in oranges, I had to try it in other colors too.
Here is the green version. It's yummy!

Cari's Card

My daughter moved to Denver this past spring
to follow her dream.
She is now the charge nurse at the
University of Colorado Medical Center
Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic.
While I miss her terribly, I am
thrilled that she has been able to advance
in a profession that she has wanted since she was 5 years old.
I send Cari cards because I love her.
Her dedication to high nursing standards
inspires me to be all that I can be as an artist.
To not settle for just good enough,
but to strive continually for the absolute best.
This card was placed in the mail box this morning
and is on it's way to brighten Cari's day and remind her
that we love her and miss her.
The butterfly (Whispers, Sugarloaf Productions)
is embossed in fineline gold and painted
with Twinkling H2o's.
The fine floral flourish is stamped in black,
while the two bolder flourishes are stamped in
various Distressed Inks (Ranger).
I then swirled the orange, yellow and
mahogany Distressed Inks
around the edges, getting darker towards the outer portion.
The final touch was a "burn" of black sponged on the
the very very outer edge.
