Because I Care

The Quickuts butterfly is stunning with just the top layer
of the die cut over the Spellbinders Lacy Square.

A Sizzix embossing folder was used to make the
white textured base layer. A narrow border of
pale peach under it accents the color theme.

The Spellbinders Lacy Square has a center
or pale peach.
That lovely butterfly really stands out
with the rhinestones attached to the body.

The phrase was computer generated
and cut with a Spellbinders oval and
attached to a tag from their first
Fancy Tag set.

Be Exalted O God

Background paper for this card is a discontinued
Karen Foster Designs. It was some of the very
first paper that the company came out with.

The elaborate dimensional flourishes are from
several Quickuts dies.
The edges have been sponged with a
light brown ink.
I used tiny pieces of egg carton for the
3-D look. I didn't want the thicker foam
3-D, it was too extreme.
There are three layers of flourish
and the phrase is the fourth layer.

The phrase is Psalm 108:5.
I computer generated it in
Paint Shop Pro X.
A Spellbinders oval die was used to cut it out.

Stilll Playing With Those Scallops

I love the color combination's of this K & Company Floral Dream stack.

The edges of the scallops and even the holes on the center die cut have been sponged with Ranger Archival coffee ink. This gives much more depth and definition to each scallop.

The largest scallops have been cut using a Sizzix extended cut die.

The two smaller sized scallops have been cut using Quickuts extended dies.

The center piece with the "ribbon" woven through the holes is from a Spellbinders die. All dies were cut with my trusty and dependable Wizard, by Spellbinders. Which they are no longer selling as they have come out with a new bigger machine. I am very sad about this. My stout little Wizard is so portable and remarkably tough. I have worn all the paint off the throat because I use it so much. There are only a very few dies from any company that my trusty Wizard will not cut cleanly. Sometimes I really hate change.

Valentines Galore

More Valentines and scallops. Here is a little bit different take on the designing with scallops thing.

I took a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 card stock, which is also known as A2 size or quarter sheet, and dry embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder. Pleas note that if you try this with a regular sized Cuttlebug embossing folder it will be smaller than the size of an A2 card base. Grrrrr.... why did they make them that size? It would have taken no effort whatsoever to make them A2 size. The result of that mistake is that I search high and low for the Sizzix as I love the size of the finished product. OK, rant over.

I attached the embossed paper to my card front.

Now layer those scallops. Depending on the papers used and the desired finished look, you can sponge the edges or not.



I printed the Happy Valentines Day on a coordinating sheet from the K and Company Floral Dreams stack. The 12 x 12 sheet of paper was cut down to 8.5 x 11 and run through my printer.


For some of the greetings the phrase was attached to cream paper, cut with a scallop edge decorative scissors and sponged.


The pictures are a little dark. It was the only way I could get the lovely dry embossing to show up.


Scallop die cuts are by Sizzix (largest scallop) and Quickuts.

A Valentine

More Valentines and more scallops. The scallops with the circles is a Spellbinders die. The largest scallop die is from Sizzix and the two smaller scallops are Quickuts.

The phrase is computer generated. I cut the scrapbook paper to 8.5 x 11 and printed on it. I do like the results.

The papers are K and Company Floral Dreams stack. Such lovely colors.

Note that all the edges have been sponged with dark brown ink.

Another Valentine

The paper used here is from DCWV Rustic stack. The large scallop was cut with a Sizzix extended cut die. The smaller scallop was a Quickuts die. I carefully punched each heart in the smaller scallop. Another punch was used for the slightly larger hearts on either side of the stamped phrase.

Note that all the edges have been sponged. This really adds to the "rustic" look.

The main technique used in this card was layering. Having all the paper from one stack is a sure way to make sure that all your colors coordinate.

Ruffled Valentines

Now these really aren't ruffles, they are scallops.
The larger scallops are from a Sizzix
extended cut die and the two smaller ones
from Quikuts dies.
The papers in the top card are from
DCWV Madly In Love Stack and the lower
from DCWV Rustic Stack.

On the lower card all the edges have been sponged,
which fits very well with the vintage rustic look of
the paper.
The Valentine stamp is unknown.
Punches, larger heart, Punch Bunch,
other punch unknown.

Butterfly

Start with a lavender or mauve card stock. Next
add texture to that card stock. Folders, plates,
whatever you have that will work.
Attach the texturized card stock
to a card base.

I used the Spellbinders Lotus Pendant for the lacy
white die cut. Quickuts made the two part
butterfly die. A polished stone background was
used for the colored part of the butterfly with
black text weight paper used for the veining detail.
A small phrase stamp from Hero Arts was
die cut with an oval, mounted on a card stock
that coordinated with the mauve or lavender
and trimmed with a deckle scissors.

Sending A Smile

Since I have a precious and naughty Scottish Terrier
guarding (LOL) the house, it seemed appropriate that
I use one of the Scottie stamps that my
friends have given me. This little guy is so cute.
I made the eyes and nose stand out with careful
application of Diamond Glaze.
The entire image has been colored with pencils.
The Scottie image was cut out with a
Spellbinders Label die and the edges were lightly
sponged with black ink.
The paper clip is a die from Sizzix and
the strip on the left is a Quickuts die.
Scrapbook paper was used to cover
the front of the card base.

I really like the Hero Arts phrase that
is stamped, punched out with a Punch Bunch punch
and attached to the center of the paper clip.
Here is a sad tale, that most of you can relate to:
I bought this paper clip die (there are three different ones
on the same die) years ago. I just liked it. This is
the first time I have used it. Sigh, I hate to think
how many things I have sitting and waiting for
the creative inspiration to strike, so they
can be used.

Another Round of Thanks

A Get Well Card

Don't know anyone that is sick, but it is nice to have a Get Well card on hand just in case.

The phrase is stamped on scrapbook paper, the flourishes were stamped at the top and bott0m and the edges of the Spellbinders die cut were inked with dark brown ink. This little gem was then layered over another die cut and flourishes by Quickutz added.

The embossed paper at the top of the card is from Cuttlebugs A2 folder line. A light sponging of medium brown ink was applied to highlight the embossing. The paper on the bottom of the card is again scrapbook paper from DCWV.

Happy Birthday

It is so much fun to get out a stack of scrapbook paper that coordinates. Then the Spellbinders labels are pulled out and the fun begins.

The Happy Birthday is computer generated and the labels are cut and embossed. The edges of all the labels have been very lightly sponged with tan ink. Flourish die cuts on the far left and right are from Quickutz. The paper is from DCWV's newest stack called Linen Closet. Very soft beautiful colors.

II Timothy 1:7

I have been gone for a while. I spent last week in Kearney NE attending workshops for my job in Agriculture Statistics. A friend commented this morning that she had noticed that I had not put anything on my blog in a while. So I'm back with one of the latest cards.

The papers are from the Citrus stack by DCWV. The scripture is a stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs, the butterfly and little flower are dies from Quickutz, embossed flower images are a Cuttlebug product and the label is from Spellbinders. I used Distressed Inks from Ranger to sponge the yellow and orange inks around the edge of the label.

I had thought that this label was going to be in the trash as I embossed the flower images backwards, meaning the flowers are indented rather then raised. Then I decided to try a little sponging to see if I could resuce it. I think I like it better than the raised embossing on some of the other cards done that were similar to this one. The embossed flower image on the plain orange paper is raised by the Cuttlebug embosing, sanded and the edge cut with a scalloped decorative scissors. You can do the sanding to expose the core of the paper if you use white core papers.

Spirit of Power, of Love and of a Sound Mind

Another great stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs!! These scripture verses have been stamped with Black archival ink and then the Spellbinders label die is carefully placed over the scripture and taped in place. (I use the lavender or delicate painters masking tape.) After the die has been cut, I run it through my Wizard again with the soft rubber mat to emboss a attractive narrow border.

The dry embossed daisy images are from Cuttlebug's embossing borders. The one on the blue has been sanded to show the white core of the DCWV cardstock. The daisies on the label have been brayered to add color and make them more visible on the white card stock.

Quickutz is the maker of the dies that were used to cut the little flowers, leaves and stems.

The blue paper that is attached to the card base, the darker blue of the right border and the glitter papers used for the flowers are all from DCWV Citrus card stock stack.

These three cards are the same basic design. There is a variation in embellishments and some papers.

A punch was used for the little butterflies. Die cuts from Quickutz were used for the large butterfly and the flowers.

Nestibilites for the scripture verse.

The verse from Our Daily Bread Designs was deliberately place at the top of the rectangle to allow for embellishments below. I was at my stamping group when I made these cards or I would have tried some ribbon too.

Simple and Quick Happy Birthday

This is a post card. I had cut out all these parts, started playing around with my new QuicKutz Happy Birthday die and put them all together. So there are the results.

The long green rectangular background and the white scallops are a Spellbinders Nestabilitly die set. The happy birthday is a brand new die that I got at the Treasure Box Scrapbooking store in Ft Collins CO. (love, love, love that store, if it's new and fantastic, they have it) That lovely flourish is made by Bosskut.

Very fast, very easy card that has a certain elegance.

This same design would be stunning with a polished stone or Glimmer Mist background in place of the plain green. Often less is more.
