Hebrews 6:10

I asked Pastor Dan and his wife, Connie, if they

had a scripture that they would like to see on some

cards that I made them.  This is the scripture that they chose.

The two strips of green
DP (designer paper) are layered over dark green

card stock and then brushed gold gift wrap.

The narrow borders have been cut with Perfect Layers rulers.

The gold "tatting" is also from a gold gift wrap.

The gift wrap is attached to cards stock

before cutting.  This makes it look like those 

expensive stickers.  (which I am far to cheap to buy)

The die cut is from Cheery Lynn Designs.

The scripture is computer generated in PSP X.

It was cut out with a Spellbinders Label die.

This was layer over a dark green oval and 

a gold gift wrap scalloped oval, both 

by Spellbinders.

Shout for Joy

A beautiful scripture matched with fall leaves. The card base is beige parchment that has a wide russet ink sponged along the outer edges, then a narrower sponging of dark brown ink. This same sponging was used on the scripture.

The patterned paper is from K and Company. It has been layered over a narrow border of rust card stock with a wider border of dark brown as the base layer.

The rust branch and leaf punched "ribbon" is from EK Success Martha Stewart line.
The glitter paper leaves are from various sources as are the leaf punches.

The scripture has been generated in PSP X as have most of the scriptures used on my cards. It has been die cut with a Spellbinder's Label die.

I have CD's availablwith 12 - 24 scriptures for sale for $7.50 - $12.50 + $1 postage. Each of these would be accompanied by a picture tutorial on the use of the CD and how to use the scriptures in Word. It would show you how to create two columns in Word, copy and paste from the CD to Word and how to size the scripture in Word. You may pick your scripture from my list which I could email to you.

There are also some inspirational phrases, fancy script basic words and short phrases and cowgirl wisdom. Your own favorite phrases and scriptures can be custom designed for as slightly higher cost. (these may become a part of my catalog and be available to others with your permission.)

First step - White card stock embossed in
a Sizzix embossing folder.
Next in line, DCWV Citrus stack and Citrus
card stock stack. With DCWV card stock
punch-around-the-page (EK Success Martha Stewart)
and attach the matching glitter paper.
On this one I rounded the corner
because the corner was rounded with
the punching as well.

The scripture is computer generated in PSP.
It has been cut out with a Spellbinders Label.
I did not want as wide a border as the next size
up Label would provide, so on DCWV Citrus
card stock stack paper I drew around the same
Label that was used to cut out the scripture
and hand cut with a scissors.

The final cut was a bit of the corner punch
on the upper right had corner.

Often the simplest cards are the most dramatic.
The card front has been covered with a visually
low impact scrapbook paper.
The maroon and tan square is scrapbook paper
that is from the same stack as that that is
covering the card base.
I used a delicate filigree-vining
background stamp and embossed with
a dark red embossing powder.
It has been layered on a red/brown
piece of card stock.

The phrase is from
Our Daily Bread Designs,
which has light tan fine lined
flourishes stamped as a background.
This has been layered over a dark brown card stock.

The Sizzix die cut in the lower right hand
corner is made from dark brown card stock.

HINT - for coordinating papers, use scrapbook
paper stacks with matching plain card stock stacks.
While these are a little expensive, they go a long way
when making cards.

Spirit of Power, of Love and of a Sound Mind

Another great stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs!! These scripture verses have been stamped with Black archival ink and then the Spellbinders label die is carefully placed over the scripture and taped in place. (I use the lavender or delicate painters masking tape.) After the die has been cut, I run it through my Wizard again with the soft rubber mat to emboss a attractive narrow border.

The dry embossed daisy images are from Cuttlebug's embossing borders. The one on the blue has been sanded to show the white core of the DCWV cardstock. The daisies on the label have been brayered to add color and make them more visible on the white card stock.

Quickutz is the maker of the dies that were used to cut the little flowers, leaves and stems.

The blue paper that is attached to the card base, the darker blue of the right border and the glitter papers used for the flowers are all from DCWV Citrus card stock stack.

And We Know

Such a beautiful scripture. There are so many of these stamps available at Our Daily Bread Designs. It is well worth the time to view all that they have available.

The design begins with scrapbook paper from DCWV attached to the front of an A2 card base. Text weight black paper was used to create the scallops that were punched with an EK Success Punch Around the Page set.

The corner punch used on the cream cardstock of the scripture phrase is echoed on the one plain corner of the black layer. Another echo is found on the left side of the card is more of the scallops and a straight edges. This pulls the whole design together.

According To His Purpose

A very very favorite scripture that has been such a comfort in troubled and stressful times, this lovely stamp is a product of Our Daily Bread Designs. It has been cut out with a Spellbinders Rectangle Nestibilities in cream cardstock and layered onto a black scalloped rectangle. On the left side of the card is Spellbinders Borderabilities in black. There is a very narrow band of cream layered onto the black for that final touch of elegance.

The paper covering the cardbase is from DCWV La Creme Stack.

Psalm 23

For my devotions I am doing an in depth study of the Psalms. I am at the 23rd Psalm. This is a condensed version of part of the introduction. It has hit home for me.

The late Donald Grey Barnhouse was leaving the funeral service of his first wife.
While drivng down the highway he was trying to think of a way to explain and convey comfort to his young children. They drove by a large van and it's shadow passed over their car. He immediately knew he has the example and words needed for the moment.

"Children," he asked, "would you rather be run over by a truck, or by it's shadow?" Of course the children answered, "We'd much rather be run over by it shadow! The shadow can not hurt us."

Barnhouse, as master illustrator then said to his children, "The truck of death ran over the Lord Jesus two thousand years ago so that only its shadow now passes over us. That is all that has happened to your mother. Only the shadow of death has passed over her. She is unharmed in heaven."

Psallm 118:24

More scripture cards!!! After stamping several 12 x 12 sheets of scrapbook paper I had to do something with them. At the time that I stamped and embossed these I was sure that the paper would be easy to work into some great cards. These have laid around staring at me for several months. One day I just couldn't take it anymore and started playing.

The card on the left has a white card base. The texture is from one of the new Sizzix Texturz plates. (they had a LOT of texture plates now and they are slightly larger than an A2 card, love it, love it, love it) I used dark green and some olivey-type green card stock for the layering.

TIP: to get ink only on the raised portion or your textured paper, use a brayer with a very light touch. Don't try to get all the ink on in one go. Lightly go over and over the texture. This way your brayer won't dip down and color unraised parts of your paper.

The background on this card is a very formal mum stamp. I used Clearsnaps Olive Pastel Colorbox Chalk Ink and just stamped until the entire card front was covered.

The little ribbon on the right side was cut from dark green card stock with deckle scissors. Very simple and it adds the finishing touch.

I am not sure that I like the epoxy stickers, but they are on there now, so I guess they are ok.

The Psalm 118:24 stamp is by Stampabilities and the mum stamp is by Rubber Stampede.

The Lord Is Great

Another scripture stamp. The background is stamped on cream cardstock and embossed with white fineline embossing powder. I sponged in a little dark tan to get more contrast. The diagonal piece is the same background stamp using gray ink on cream cardstock.

I really do like this design. I may have to make more, but I think I will stamp the verse on a different scrapbook paper. Maybe one not so busy. LOL

Rubbadubbadoo Stamps Are Fantastic

This is one of my very favorite scriptures. Now if you add to that a stamp that has an easy to stamp AND read font, well, I am sold, totally. I am impressed that even the tiny scripture reference is so easy to read.

The phrase was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with fineline black embossing powder. It was then cut out and layered using three different Spellbinders Circle Nestibilites.

The background paper was made using some Basic Grey clear flourish stamp. Ink used was VersaMark and followed by a clean embossing powder. This technique gives a perfect color match for a subtle background.

A Martha Stewart border punch used on the opening edge of the card added the final touch.
