Double Gate-fold

The basics for this card came from
Technique Junkies CD.
Fancy Folds and Motion Paper Crafts.
Thanks to Ginni S. who got for
me as a Christmas gift. It is a great CD
with lots of innovative ideas.

The paper is from DCWV Citrus Stack.
The punch is an EK Success from the
Martha Stewart line.
The scripture was created by me in
Paint Shop Pro X program.

Basic instructions-
5 1/2 x 12 inch piece of paper
score at 2, 4, 8, and 10 inches
the rest you should be able to figure out from
the pictures.

Computer Generated Phrases

I love to make cards with inspirational phrases.
The problem is that I frequently see a phrase that
is not a stamp. Oh dear, used to be a big problem.
Well since I took the time to do a long but very good
tutorial on PSP (Paint Shop Pro) I can now
play with the font, spacing and size of a phrase.
Printing out your own phrases has
the advantage of getting the exact size
that you want.
There are still times when I want to
stamp and emboss a phrase, but
I now have a choice.
For simple greetings, like happy birthday,
get well, thinking of you, etc I use Word.
I usually print off a two column sheet on white or
cream card stock, leaving enough
room between the phrases to use
a Spellbinders label to cut them out if desired.

Sometimes you come across a design sketch that triggers all kinds of ideas.

I stamped off the phrase, cut it out with one of Spellbinders many wonderful Label dies and began to play.

Various DCWV stacks were used, some of them I had never envisioned turning out like this. It is a wonderful experience to take the paper from the the stack that you like the least and attempt to create something with it.

While I like plaid, I have a hard time making cards with it.

Who would have thought that cutting the points off a diamond die cut would be striking?


Sometimes the very simplest usage is the most elegant. The leaf is hair Highlighting Foil that has been glued to card stock with Ultimate Crafters glue, then cut and embossed with a Spellbinders leaf die. This foil should be available at any beauty supply.

It's A Jungle Out There !

I think I may have blogged this card before,
but I still just love it.
The scrapbook papers are from
DCWV Safari 8 x 8 stack.
The tiger is stamped in black, torn out,
and the edges heavily sponged with two shades
of brown ink and then burned with black ink.
The only color on the tiger itself is the yellow
of the eye.

A fern image stamped in medium brown ink
completes the jungle look.

The phrase, "It's a jungle out there."
has been computer generated.
I have no idea of the manufacturer of the
stamps, they are unmounted and I bought them
before I started marking the maker on
my unmounted stamps.
